The Public Health Dental Program (PHDP) collects and analyzes statewide and county data on the oral health status and access to dental services of Florida's residents.

Florida's Oral Health Burden 

During 2017-2018, 24% of Head Start children ages 3-6 years had untreated decay.

About 25.1% of third grade children had untreated decay and 40.5% had dental sealants during 2016-2017.

In 2018, 65.7% of adults visited a dental clinic and 45.8% had a permanent teeth removed because of gum disease.

The average number of natural teeth present among older adults ages 60 years and older were 15.2 out of 32 teeth, and 19.2% did not have any teeth in 2015-2016.

Since 2009, the PHDP has developed a biennial workforce survey for Florida's dentists and dental hygienists to obtain information concerning the dental workforce and its changing landscape which would better inform healthcare policymakers and shape oral healthcare policy development.

Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Visualization Tool provides demographic data of Florida Medicaid dental clients as well as summary information on managed care plans.

Children Medical Service (CMS) 416 Reports collects data on the utilization of Medicaid services among children ages 0-20 years, including dental services.  

National Survey of Children Health (NSCH) provide several national and statewide oral health data among children ages 0-17 years.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) contains a question about dental visit among adolescents. 

Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) has data on the percentage of dental visits and teeth removed among adults.

Florida Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) collects information on the oral health care of women before, during, and after pregnancy.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) United States Cancer Statistics Visualization Tool generates state level oral cancer data.

Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) is Florida's statewide cancer registry that collects cancer incidence data including oral cancer.

National Cancer Institute Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Cancer Statistics Review generates oral cancer statistics by many factors.

State Cancer Profiles contains oral cancer statistics by county and health service area. 

Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD) Data and Oral Health Surveillance Committee contains many resources on oral health data and surveillance.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Oral Health Surveillance System (NOHSS) is designed to monitor the burden of oral disease, the use of the oral health care delivery system, and the status of community water fluoridation on both the national and state level.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Oral Health Data contains state level data for select indicators from the National Oral Health Surveillance System (NOHSS).

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Data Warehouse has data on federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) as well as dental health provider shortage areas (HPSAs).

National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) has national data on dental care access and coverage.

National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHNES) contains national and statewide data on many oral health indicators including dental care access and dental conditions.

National Oral Health Data Portal includes consolidated datasets on oral health status, attitudes, cost, utilization, and access to care.

Oral Health Florida (OHF) Data Scoreboard provides annual estimates of key oral health indicators.
