Hyperhemoglobinemia. What a mouthful. What does it mean? Well, let’s see. If hyper means too much, then hyperhemoglobinemia would mean there is too much hemoglobin in the blood, which is, as you know by now, the opposite of having too little, as in iron-deficiency anemia. Now, hyperhemoglobinemia may not be as common as iron-deficiency anemia, at least not among WIC clients, but it's something to watch out for, too. What causes it?
