    ~ ACCREDITATION TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENTS ~

    June 28, 2023

    TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Health (DOH), Office of Inspector General (OIG), is seeking reaccreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA). The OIG was initially accredited by the CFA on September 29, 2011, and was reaccredited on October 8, 2014; November 1, 2017; and October 15, 2020. By maintaining CFA accreditation, the OIG demonstrates its commitment to meeting the highest professional investigative standards.

    A team of CFA Assessors will arrive on August 9, 2023, to examine all aspects of the OIG’s Investigations Section’s procedures, written directives, operations, and support services. This examination will include interviews, observations, and a review of written materials to determine continued compliance with CFA standards. A copy of the accreditation standards is available through the CFA’s website at https://flaccreditation.org/.

    As part of the assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team.     After the assessment, a final report will be submitted to the CFA Commission for a panel review and recommendation to the full CFA Commission for a determination of reaccreditation. The DOH OIG’s accreditation, if approved, will be for a three-year term. 

    The OIG reviews complaints and conducts independent and impartial investigations in order to maintain the integrity, credibility and public trust as the Department carries out its core mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts.
