To obtain data, applicants must submit a project that has scientific merit, satisfactory methodology, proper data security procedures, and consistency with the epidemiologic research goals of Florida Statute 381.0031.
Disease Surveillance Publications
Florida Flu Review
The Florida Department of Health's comprehensive summary of influenza and ILI surveillance data, the Florida Flu Review, is produced and distributed weekly during the regular influenza season (October through May). The most current Flu Review can be accessed by visiting www.floridahealth.gov/floridaflu. In the summer months, the Summer Florida Flu Review, an abbreviated influenza and ILI surveillance summary is produced and disseminated on a bi-weekly basis.
Florida Arbovirus Surveillance Report
The results of human and environmental surveillance of arboviruses in Florida are included in this weekly report. The report includes endemic mosquito-borne viruses such as West Nile virus, Eastern equine encephalitis virus, and St. Louis encephalitis virus, as well as exotic viruses such as dengue virus, chikungunya virus, and California encephalitis group viruses. Malaria, a non-viral mosquito-borne disease is also included.
Annual Morbidity Statistics Reports
Final data on selected reportable diseases/conditions are published at the end of the year in the Florida Morbidity Statistics Report. These reports contain the official statistics, in tabular and graphic form, for the occurrence of reportable diseases/conditions in Florida.

Population-Based Health Surveys
The Bureau of Epidemiology administers the following health surveys: the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), the Florida Youth Tobacco Survey (FYTS), the Middle School Health Behavior Survey (MSHBS), the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), and the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). Information from these surveys are used for health planning, program evaluation, and monitoring health objectives within the Department of Health.
Cancer Registry
The Florida Annual Cancer Report, an epidemiological report series, presents an overview of the burden of cancer in Florida for the top cancer sites and cancer sites of public health importance by geography, stage at time of diagnosis, sex, race, and age group.
Statistics Publications
Florida Community Health Assessment Resource Tool Set (CHARTS)
CHARTS provides information at the county level of health statistics such as births, deaths, disease morbidity, populations, and behavioral risk factors.
Florida’s Reportable Disease Frequency Reports
This system allows you to create frequency reports from communicable disease cases reportable by law to the Florida Department of Health. These reports do not include cases of tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases or HIV/AIDS. Case counts or percentages can be viewed by county, age group, diagnosis status (confirmed or probable) or acquired status.
