Welcome to the Florida Department of Health ELR Page!
Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) for public health is the transmission of digital laboratory reports, often from laboratories to state and local public health departments, healthcare systems, and CDC.
Traditionally, laboratories and health care providers could only report laboratory results for diseases or conditions of public health signifigance to public health agencies by mail or fax. Once reports
were received, public health professionals were responsible for manually entering those laboratory results into a database for review, investigation, and intervention if necessary.
ELR decreases time-consuming manual processes and increases efficiency for both laboratories and public health agencies, making it the required mechanism for laboratory result reporting
