Prerequisite Certification Training

Prior to sitting for the examination, an applicant must complete pre-certification coursework for the chosen primary program area. It is recommended that an applicant not begin the pre-certification coursework until they receive notification from the Florida Department of Health that they have satisfied the eligiblity requirements.


Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems Program 

Florida Onsite Wastewater Association

The Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems Program (OSTDS) prerequisite coursework and exams are provided through a week long accelerated certification training (ACT), provided at the Polk County training site of the Florida Onsite Wastewater Association (FOWA).

**The October 2024 ACT Dates Have Been Changed to November 18 - 21, 2024, due to Hurricane Milton**

Food Protection Program

Government Employees Only

U.S. Food and Drug Administration LogoThe prerequisite coursework for the Food Protection Program is currently only available to government employees. The Food Protection Program prerequisite coursework is offered through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA).

These FDA ORA courses are free to current government employees, with a verifiable active government email address. Applicants must register through FDA's ORA LearnED Training website to access required courses.
