Recreational Diving

Compressed Air Program

During the 1999 session, the Florida Legislature passed a law requiring the Florida Department of Health to establish maximum allowable levels for contaminants in compressed air used for recreational sport diving in this state.

Business Requirements

As required by the statute, all companies must have their air checked by a laboratory company that has been accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association or American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. You may contact these groups for a list of approved laboratories.

The follow laboratories offer these services that meet the requirements:

This list should not be considered as all inclusive. Any laboratory offering appropriate services accredited by one of the laboratory accrediting agencies may be used. The laboratories listed here were taken from reports submitted to the department and from laboratories that notify us in writing. If you represent an accredited laboratory not on this list and offering these services, please contact us for inclusion.
