Trauma System Assessment
(August 31, 2023)
Pursuant to section 395.4025(2)(b), Florida Statutes, the Department is required to make available all data, formulas, methodologies, calculations, and risk adjustment tools used in preparing the report.
The following tools were used in the completion of the assessment but not included in the appendices:
Population Tables (2010-2022)
Five-year-population increase was calculated using population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau (2010-2019; 2020-2022). The formula is subtraction of the 2018 population estimate from the 2022 population estimate and division by the 2018 population, aggregated by Trauma Service Area.
Survival Risk Ratios (SRRs) (2017-2021)
The ICD-10 codes that are considered traumatic injuries are taken from the National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS) Patient Inclusion Criteria.
SAS Code Text File (2023)
Source code used by the Department to calculate the number of "high risk" patients at trauma centers and acute care hospitals. Requires SAS compatible statistical software. May be viewed by opening the file in Microsoft Notepad
