Mother’s Day
May 11, 2018
Mother’s Day is the perfect start to this year’s National Women’s Health Week! This coming week is set aside to empower women to make health their priority and take the steps to improve their well-being.
The Florida Department of Health encourages all women to take steps toward better health. There are multiple ways that one can improve their physical and mental health:
- Visit a doctor or nurse for a well-woman visit and preventive screenings;
- Get active;
- Eat healthy;
- Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress; and
- Avoid unhealthy behaviors like smoking, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
This coming week, encourage the women in your life to take a more active role in their health by making lifestyle changes to reduce their risk of preventable illnesses by scheduling a physical or well-women visit to detect any issues before they become a problem.
