It is the intent of the IDEA, Part C, to identify and serve all eligible infants and toddlers and their families residing in the state. To accomplish this, each state must implement a child find system in order to identify infants and toddlers who have established conditions or developmental delays and to ensure that potentially eligible infants and toddlers are referred for early intervention services within two (2) working days of identification.
Child find activities include screening and identification programs conducted in the community to identify infants and toddlers who may potentially be eligible for IDEA, Part C and other program services. Examples of Child Find activities include: Community outreach and education, screening opportunities, and public awareness activities
